Jon’s apprenticeship success
27 March 2025We recently sat down with Jon, one of our Warehouse Operatives, to discuss the completion of his Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship and what it took to get here today.
The journey Jon has been on to complete this challenge has been quite an amazing and enlightening journey, so we sat down with him and asked him to tell us a little more. From what he learned during, what kept him going, and his overall thoughts on committing to an apprenticeship alongside his full-time role, we covered it all. Over to Jon,
“When I saw CitySprint offering a Business Administration apprenticeship, I applied on a whim, never expecting to be selected. A few days later, I got the email—I’d been accepted! Excitement quickly turned into nerves as I realised the challenge ahead, especially passing the required Maths & English exams. Those were never my strengths at school, but with the incredible support of my mentors and manager, I pushed through and passed.
Beyond the coursework, this apprenticeship transformed my skills and confidence. I learnt to navigate Excel, create PowerPoints, deliver presentations, and understand key business principles like stakeholder management, project planning, and safeguarding. More importantly, I developed the ability to manage my time, communicate effectively, and take initiative—all skills I now use daily in my role at CitySprint Heathrow.
Completing this apprenticeship is one of my proudest achievements, and I dedicate it to my late father, who always inspired me to push forward.”
Balancing work and learning
“Taking on an apprenticeship while working full-time was no small feat, but CitySprint made it possible. Flexible scheduling, encouragement from my manager, and support from my colleagues helped me stay on track. The hands-on learning was invaluable—I wasn’t just studying; I was applying new skills in real time, making an immediate impact in my role.”
What’s next?
“This journey has ignited a passion for learning, and I’m eager to continue developing my career at CitySprint. My next goal? A leadership apprenticeship to build on my skills and take the next step towards management.”
Why apprenticeships matter
