CitySprint will be at the Lord Mayor’s Show this Saturday

08 November 2023

The Lord Mayor’s Show is one of the best-known events in London, as well as one of the longest established. Dating back to the 13th century, the annual event is a celebration of the new Lord Mayor of London taking on the prestigious role.

The Lord Mayor’s Show, 2022

The Lord Mayor’s Show was originally held every year on the day of the Feast of St Simon and St Jude, which falls on October 28. The date of the show was changed to November 9 in 1751 when Britain adopted the Gregorian Calendar. By 1959, it was decided that the show should happen on the second Saturday in November in order minimize disruption across the city. This year, the Lord Mayor’s Show will fall on November 11.

CitySprint are proud and honoured to announce that we have been invited to participate in this year’s London Mayor’s Show that will oversee the celebration of the new Lord Mayor of London.

What to expect on the day

The annual show consists of a three-mile, hour-long procession making its way through the City of London, beginning at Mansion House and finishing at the Royal Courts of Justice. Past editions of the much-loved celebration have included not only the Lord Mayor’s glittering carriage but also military bands, giant inflatables, 120 horses and more than 100 floats representing London organisations and Livery companies.

This year, CitySprint will be sporting 2 of our electric vehicles and 10 of our incredible colleagues with an aim of showcasing the strides in sustainability in the courier space that we have made. With over 150 electric vehicles in our fleet, over 500,000 green miles travelled in 2022, and 100% renewable energy across all our 25+ office sites, we know that positive environmental change is possible and within reach in this sector.

Gary West, CEO of CitySprint, commented,

CitySprint are very honoured to have been selected to take part in this year’s London Mayor’s Show and look forward to being part of this historic ceremony welcoming the new Lord Mayor of London.

The procession is free to stand and watch anywhere along the route from 11am to 12pm between Mansion House and St Paul’s. For a less crowded option, the return procession takes place from 1:15pm to 2:30pm in the Embankment area. We hope to see you all there to welcome in the new Lord Mayor of London!
