Presenting our Q4 sustainability winner
05 February 2025We’re delighted to announce that Norwich has taken home the gold in our quarterly sustainability competition thanks to their diligent efforts in sustainability.
The need to combat climate change is an urgent one and here at CitySprint we know that delivery companies must prioritise sustainability in their operations. By making our service centres and operational processes more environmentally friendly, we have significantly reduced our carbon footprint, mitigated pollution, and contributed to preserving natural resources.
We launched our quarterly sustainability competition amongst our service centres to promote best sustainable practices and improve our overall recyclability across the business. Since launching in 2022, the competition has rewarded several service centre teams for their different approaches towards building a sustainable future, whether through energy performance, recycling efforts or green initiatives.
And so, we are now proud to announce that our Norwich site took home the last gold in 2024 due to its team’s relentless and diligent sustainability efforts. This achievement is all the more impressive as Norwich has now won back-to-back quarters after also claiming the Q3 2024 title! Huge congratulations to the Norwich team who has been working hard to put sustainability at the forefront of their operations.
We asked Kieran, the site manager, what their secret is,
“We don’t do anything exceptional other than implement energy efficiency best practices. The team is always making sure that we don’t leave any lights or heating on in empty spaces. Also, in the warehouse, we use LED lighting and we try to concentrate our operations in half of the space available whenever possible. That way, we only have part of the warehouse using light throughout the day.
“The main thing we have changed in the last six months is the timer for automatic lights, ensuring the lights go off quicker than they used to. We have reviewed all motion sensors in the service centre in order to maximise efficiency.”
We hope that by making our operations more sustainable and improving our recycling reporting, we can emerge as leaders in corporate responsibility and innovation when it comes to delivery and logistics.
We’d also like to say a big well done to the rest of our service centres who are all taking the necessary steps to become as sustainable as they can be. Specifically, we wanted to shout out our Heathrow, Milton Keynes, Sheffield, and Medway service centres, all of which also had outstanding energy consumption rates!
