The volunteers in question helped put together magical wish packages for a special Lapland trip.

This holiday season, the Make-A-Wish Foundation UK (MAW) planning to take 46 critically ill children and their families to Lapland. The trip, planned to happen in December, aims to grant the children a truly wonderful wish. In order to help make this experience extra special, MAW will be providing the families with magical wish packages to be distributed during the trip.

Since the workshop was taking place at MAW’s headquarters in Reading, we were delighted to send along 2 of our local colleagues as volunteer elves to help create the wish packages. Kate, who is one of our Territory Managers, and Mark, who is a National Operations Contract Manager, were amongst 15 volunteers who spent the day preparing letters from Santa and putting together the wish packs. As well as an opportunity to create magical wish anticipation for our wish families, the volunteers  learnt more about the Lapland wishes and why wish anticipation is so important.

Kate commented,

“What an absolute amazing experience today was… I was delighted to be offered the place and truly honoured to help out. As well as creating the packs, we heard a very moving story about a two-year old wish child who is now 23! I would love to get involved in more events in the future.”

Mark too said,

“It was a privilege to be able to give up some time to support such a wonderful charity. Having watched videos of a previous trip to Lapland, we couldn’t wait to get stuck into getting the wish packs and letters from Santa made up, as the next step would be for the letters to go out and then the excitement for the children would be in full flow.”

Well done to all the volunteers for their selflessness and hard work, as well as Make-A-Wish UK for their consistent efforts to spread joy in dark times.
