Sunday marked the first day of the biggest annual campaign that raises awareness of the devastating toll of road crashes.

For the past 7 years, CitySprint has been supporting road safety charity, Brake, in their push for safe and healthy roads. Part of our involvement with the charity has consisted of educating our colleagues, customers, and the couriers who work with us on the dangers of unsafe road use to minimise casualties and foster a safe environment for everyone to travel. As being part of the logistics industry involves constant road travel, we want to maximise road safety as much as possible.

Safe and healthy mobility is everyone’s human right. We believe that no one should be killed or seriously injured on roads due to preventable mistakes. For this reason, there are a number of statistics involving road safety from 2023 that we’d like to highlight this Road Safety Week.

Road deaths and serious injuries in the UK, in 2023*

• 1,695 people were killed (1,624 in Britain, 71 in NI)
• 28,967 were seriously injured (28,087 in Britain, 880 in NI)
• Road deaths have decreased by 5% since 2022
• Total serious injuries have slightly increased (up from 28,899 in 2022)

To support this year’s theme of “After the crash, every road victim counts” and bring awareness to the cause, CitySprint put together a quiz for our employees and the couriers we work with. Everyone who completes the quiz will be put into a draw to win a comprehensive vehicle safety kit.
