The festive season is upon us and whilst it is a very busy time of year for both us and our customers, as always it brings into sharp focus the need to help those that are less fortunate than us.

On Friday last week, we participated in Text Santa’s Christmas Jumper Day for the third year running. Staff and couriers were encouraged to wear their most Christmassy of jumpers to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support, Make a wish and Save the Children charities. This year's Text Santa was a record breaker after raising more than £8.5 million by the end of Friday evening - a fantastic effort by everyone across the country who took part and we are proud to have made a small contribution towards this.

Christmas is also a time that we reflect on the work we do with our charity partner Crisis, the national charity for single homeless people. The festive season can be particularly hard and lonely for the homeless with shelters full of people desperate for some much-needed relief. Last year, our donations helped Crisis provide a warm and safe place to stay for over 4000 homeless people across the country. This Christmas, we expanded our support to even more Crisis centres around the country, such as Birmingham, Coventry and Leeds. Furthermore, we will also be expanding our year-round support programme in 2016, providing more vehicles for the Crisis team to collect and distribute donations in London and now in Leeds. I hope you agree this is such a meaningful cause.

We also continued our support for the Net Patient Foundation in memory of a former staff member, Keeley Mulvey, with many activities raising money to promote the awareness of the rare neuroendocrine cancer that tragically took Keeley’s life at the age of 24.

Last month, we were also proud to assist one of our clients, MITIE, for the fifth consecutive year by providing a dedicated van to collect donations for the MITIE Warm Hugs Appeal, which supports The Passage - a Victoria-based charity that offers a wide range of services to the homeless in Westminster.

We do hope our donations and support have helped make a difference.
