Adapting to the pandemic
The SPS IT Help and Consultancy Team [SPS Support] delivers high quality technical support for the School of Social and Political Science at the University of Edinburgh.
One of their key roles is to provide IT hardware for desk-based and student-facing staff, so the lockdown presented a new challenge for the team: ensuring everyone was equipped and ready to work from home.
Normally SPS Support take kit to people’s workplace or introduce them to the equipment at their office. But with university buildings closed, they needed a fast, failsafe way to get devices to staff.
Seamless, safe and quick
The team had used CitySprint before, but now we quickly became an integral part of the solution. Vital IT equipment was delivered and collected door-to-door, allowing end users to receive it within the hour!
The couriers also handled swapping out faulty kit and collecting equipment from people leaving the School. Our efficient system and their rigorous training ensured that each process was hassle-free and effortless for SPS Support.
The elements of success
The CitySprint solution worked well because our processes are simple and reliable. Booking could be done via the online form or through email, and the tracking map was really effective. This meant customers always knew when their delivery would arrive. All drivers are of the highest standard and DBS-checked. And if anything should go wrong, it can be checked and rectified quickly.
Making the most of a new normal
The challenges of lockdown could have made life difficult for SPS Support and its colleagues. CitySprint however, minimised the logistical issues, expense and wasted time, allowing them to adapt immediately. As long as hybrid working is used by the university, this fruitful relationship will continue.
